Pertamina’s Senior VP Shares Vision for Renewable Energy at Carbon Neutrality Event

In a recent gathering at the Carbon Neutrality and Mobility Event hosted by Toyota Indonesia, Pertamina’s Senior Vice President of Technology Innovation, Oki Muraza, unveiled the company’s strategies to achieve Net Zero Emission (NZE) by 2060. The event took place at the Gambir Expo Jakarta International Expo (JIEXPO) in North Jakarta on Friday, February 14, 2025, coinciding with the Indonesia International Motor Show 2025 (IIMS 2025).

During his speech, Oki emphasized Pertamina’s commitment to shaping the future of Indonesia’s energy sector. From reducing emissions to ensuring energy security and resilience, the company is taking proactive steps to address environmental challenges. However, Oki highlighted the importance of policy support and incentives to create a sustainable and affordable biofuel ecosystem for the community. He reassured the audience that Pertamina is dedicated to keeping energy prices accessible to the Indonesian population.

In terms of products, Oki outlined Pertamina’s efforts in developing bioenergy to meet domestic demands. The company is actively working on three main products: bioethanol blended with gasoline, HVO or renewable diesel as a diesel alternative, and Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) for the aviation industry. These initiatives align with Pertamina’s goal of promoting eco-friendly energy solutions.

Furthermore, Pertamina is also focusing on expanding the electric vehicle ecosystem in the country, including battery recycling for electric vehicles. Oki mentioned the company’s plans to produce green hydrogen in Ulubelu with a daily capacity of 100 Kg and the upcoming project of a Hydrogen Refueling Station. These innovations represent Pertamina’s dedication to exploring various sustainable energy options.

Director General of Renewable Energy and Energy Conservation at the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources, Eniya Listiani Dewi, commended Pertamina’s efforts in developing environmentally friendly fuels. She praised the company’s progress in SAF development and the successful implementation of the B40 program, which mandates a 40% biodiesel blend.

Eniya expressed her appreciation for Pertamina’s biofuel initiatives in both the aviation sector and the broader community. As a frontrunner in the energy transition, Pertamina remains committed to supporting the 2060 net zero emission target by driving initiatives that align with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The company’s focus on Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) principles across its business lines underscores its dedication to sustainability.

With a clear vision and concrete action plans, Pertamina continues to lead the way in the energy transition, setting an example for other industry players to follow suit. The company’s commitment to innovation and sustainability serves as a driving force in the global shift towards a greener future.
