Ni Ketut Nurhayati, a migrant worker from Banjar/Desa Gitgit, Sukasada District, Buleleng Regency, Bali, tragically passed away on Tuesday (31/12/2024). She was suspected to be a victim of murder in Malaysia, where she was working. Her body was found in a hotel covered in blood and wrapped in a blanket. However, the news of Nurhayati’s death only reached her family on Saturday (4/1/2025), four days after the incident.

The Heartbreaking Sacrifice

Ni Ketut Nurhayati’s husband, Komang Suwinten, revealed the kind of person his wife was. Despite facing health issues, Nurhayati bravely became a migrant worker to improve her family’s financial situation. She decided to work in Malaysia as a migrant worker to provide for her 8 children, leaving behind her job making donuts at home. Suwinten initially struggled with Nurhayati’s decision due to her health condition, but eventually supported her out of love and the need to support their family.

Before leaving for Malaysia, Nurhayati underwent training at a Work Training Agency (LPK) in Tulungagung, East Java. Her determination to uplift her family’s economic status was driven by her love for her children and the desire to give them a better future.
