The Indonesian Amputee Football Team Gears Up for Asian Championship 2025: Aiming for Top Three
In a heartwarming display of support and national pride, Minister of Youth and Sports Dito Ariotedjo bid farewell to the Indonesian amputee national football team as they prepared to compete in the upcoming Amputee Football Asian Championship 2025 in Dhaka, Bangladesh. The symbolic event, marked by the handover of the national flag from Deputy of Sports Achievement Enhancement of the Ministry of Youth and Sports Surono to the Chairman of the Indonesian Amputee Football Association (PSAI) Yudhi Yahya at the Ministry’s headquarters in Jakarta on Tuesday (4/2/2025), was a testament to the dedication and resilience of these athletes.
“It’s not just about sending off a team, but about honoring the warriors who will proudly carry our national flag onto the international stage,” expressed Deputy Surono. He emphasized that the athletes’ journey symbolizes perseverance, courage, and unwavering determination in pursuit of their dreams, hoping that they will achieve success in the upcoming championship.
The participation of the Indonesian amputee national football team serves as a powerful reminder that limitations should never hinder one’s aspirations. These athletes have undergone rigorous training, faced numerous obstacles, and now stand tall as representatives of Indonesia in this prestigious competition. On the other hand, Chairman of PSAI, Yudhi Yahya, announced that the Asian Amputee Football Championship 2025 is set to take place from February 7th to February 12th. This tournament will kickstart the journey for the Indonesian amputee national team this year. Apart from Indonesia, the championship will feature teams from host nation Bangladesh, Iraq, Iran, Uzbekistan, and Nepal, providing a platform for these athletes to gauge their skills and pave the way for bigger dreams such as the World Cup.
With a total of thirteen players prepared for the championship, the team has set their sights on finishing in the top three. Yahya expressed gratitude for the support from Minister Ariotedjo, the DPR Commission X, and various sponsors. He humbly requested prayers and support from the entire nation to help the national team achieve their best results in the competition.
