Indonesian Navy Dismantles 13.9 Km Sea Fence in Tangerang
In a monumental effort, the Indonesian Navy, along with maritime agencies and local fishermen, successfully dismantled a 13.9 Km sea fence in Tangerang, Banten. This operation, led by Navy spokesperson First Admiral I Made Wira Hady Arsanta Wardhana, marks a significant step towards ensuring the safety and livelihood of coastal communities in the region.
Collaborative Effort
A total of 450 personnel from the Indonesian Navy, Water Police, Maritime Security Agency, and local fishermen joined forces to tackle this extensive task. Strategic Locations
The sea fence dismantling focused on three key areas: Tanjung Pasir, Kronjo, and Mauk. Tanjung Pasir saw the successful removal of 10.5 Km of illegal sea fence, while Kronjo and Mauk accounted for 2.5 Km and 900 m, respectively. These strategic locations were chosen to maximize the impact of the operation and restore access for fishermen to the open sea.
Challenges Overcome
Despite facing adverse weather conditions, including high winds and rough seas, the combined team persevered in removing bamboo fences buried up to 2.5 meters deep in 1-meter-deep waters. The resilience and determination of the team, aided by local fishermen’s boats, ensured the operation’s success despite the challenging circumstances.
