Government Extends Electric Motorcycle Conversion Incentives Through 2025
Jakarta – The Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources has announced that incentives for electric motorcycle conversion will be extended until 2025 to support the growth of Indonesia’s electric vehicle (EV) ecosystem. This move aims to encourage the adoption of more environmentally friendly transportation options in the country.

Eniya Listiani Dewi, the Director General of Renewable Energy and Energy Conservation at the ministry, confirmed the extension of incentives for electric motorcycle conversion. She highlighted the importance of these incentives in promoting the transition to cleaner energy sources and reducing carbon emissions.
According to Dewi, discussions on the funding for these incentives are still ongoing, and the target for electric motorcycle conversion in 2025 has not been finalized yet. However, she mentioned that in 2024, incentives were granted for the conversion of 1,111 units of gasoline-powered motorcycles into electric ones. This represents a significant increase from the previous year, when only 145 units were converted.

In August 2024, the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources launched a program to convert one thousand gasoline-powered motorcycles to electric ones at no cost to the owners.
