**Deadly Tourist Bus Accident in Batu City, East Java: 4 Killed, Dozens Injured, Here’s the Timeline**
TRIBUNNEWS.COM, – A tragic tourist bus accident involving a group of students from SMK TI Bali Global Badung in Batu City, East Java, on Wednesday (8/1/2025) has left 4 people dead and dozens more injured. The injured victims are currently receiving treatment at Hasta Brata Hospital in Batu City.
**Timeline of the Accident**
The bus, with license plate number DK 7942 GB, was carrying 43 people when it experienced a brake malfunction on Imam Bonjol Street, eventually coming to a stop in front of Al Kitab School on Ir Soekarno Street, Beji, Junrejo District, Batu City, approximately 2 kilometers away. The bus collided with 15 road users along the way.
According to eyewitness Kusnari (54) near the bus stop location, passengers inside the bus were heard screaming before the bus finally stopped after hitting a cosmetic shop and a tree. “When it arrived here, we heard the sound of ‘Crack Crack Crack,’ the front iron of the bus scraping against the asphalt because it had previously hit several vehicles,” said Kusnari. “After that, the bus stopped after hitting the cosmetic shop and tree,” she continued.
Kusnari mentioned that after the bus stopped, the passengers were immediately evacuated and taken to Hasta Brata Hospital for data collection, even though no one was injured.
“To my knowledge, none of the passengers inside the bus were injured. They only screamed and got off when the bus stopped,” she explained.
The exact number of injured or deceased victims is still unknown as the police are still conducting data collection. In addition to collecting victim data, the police are also conducting a crime scene investigation to determine the cause of the bus losing control and hitting many drivers.
**CCTV Surveillance**
CCTV footage from around the accident location shows the bus carrying a group of industrial visit students from SMK Bali Global Badung to Semarang-Yogyakarta-Malang driving uncontrollably from Imam Bonjol Street with a downhill road contour, colliding with vehicles in front of it.
Upon reaching the intersection in front of Batu Town Square (Batos) in Batu City, the bus turned right and sped towards Patimura Street before finally coming to a stop in front of Al Kitab School in Beji.
“It’s quite a distance when seen from the CCTV footage circulating in the WhatsApp group. It’s about 2 kilometers from Imam Bonjol until it stops in front of Al Kitab School in Beji. It stopped after hitting a tree,” said Beji resident Endi to Suryamalang.com on Wednesday (8/1/2025).
