A Training of Trainers (TOT) event, hosted by the Central Management of the Brotherhood of Setia Hati Terate (PSHT), recently drew 47 silat warriors to the Kantor Kapanewon Pengasih/GOR Sendangsari Pengasih in Kulon Progo, DI Yogyakarta. Led by the Lemdiklat PSHT Chairman, Aji Antoko, the program unfolded on January 11, 18, 25, and February 1, 2025, under the theme “PSHT citizens are brave, tenacious, clever, capable of self-control, and confident thanks to correct gymnastic movements and techniques that are continuously practiced.”
Arif Widayat, the Chairman of the Committee, highlighted the TOT’s aim to equip participants with the foundational skills needed to become professional trainers within the PSHT organization. This initiative seeks to cultivate competent and certified coaches. The 47 PSHT silat warriors hail from various regions, including eight branches from Kulon Progo and their training coordinators, as well as five branches from Yogyakarta City and their training coordinators.
“This TOT is held to standardize teaching materials (gymnastics, techniques, training methods, and spirituality) while enhancing the quality of trainers within PSHT. Upon completion, participants will receive a novice trainer certificate,” explained Arif, who also serves as the Coordinator of Training Branches in Kulonprogo.
In addition to obtaining a novice trainer certificate, TOT attendees will receive a novice trainer guidebook, a novice trainer card, a trainer’s pocketbook, and a student’s pocketbook. During his guidance session, Arif Rahmadi, Chairman of the Kulon Progo Branch, emphasized the importance of aligning gymnastic movements and techniques across all PSHT branches nationwide and overseas, citing current discrepancies in practice.
“This TOT aims to implement the predetermined programs of the Central Management of PSHT. It underscores the need to broaden the coaching knowledge of trainers to ensure that training aligns with the guidance of the Majelis Ajar and Majelis Luhur of PSHT,” stated Rahmat, as he urged trainers to deepen their understanding of teachings to effectively coach and mentor students in accordance with organizational directives.
TOT plays a crucial role in enabling trainers to interpret teachings better, deliver content to students effectively, and steer clear of non-procedural or unauthorized training practices. By instilling a deeper understanding of teachings, PSHT trainers are poised to guide and mentor students in line with the organization’s principles, fostering a cohesive and authentic learning environment.
