Ahmad Amarullah: A Journey from Failure to Success
Ahmad Amarullah, a former failed candidate in the 2024 Tangerang City election, has now emerged victorious in the election for the chairman of a neighborhood association (RW). This surprising turn of events took place during the election for the chairman of RW 04 in Margasari Village, Karawaci District, Tangerang City, Banten.
Surpassing Competition
Despite facing tough competition from two other candidates, Amarullah managed to secure 25 votes during the voting process at Al-Ittifaq Mosque in Margasari Village. The total number of eligible voters in the RW 04 area was 60, consisting of residents from three neighborhood units (RT) and 10 community leaders. However, only 65 individuals turned up to cast their votes during the election.
According to Didit Herman, one of the organizers, Amarullah’s victory was clear as he received the highest number of votes among the three candidates. This win means that Amarullah will hold the position of RW chairman for the 2025-2028 term.
Not Deterred by Past Failures
Despite his unsuccessful bid in the city election, Amarullah expressed no shame in participating in the RW chairman election. He viewed this opportunity as a way to directly assist his current neighbors and contribute to the community through democratic means.
Amarullah emphasized that he does not differentiate between levels of leadership, as serving as an RW chairman is just as honorable as being the Mayor of Tangerang. Both roles require dedication to public service and benefiting the community, following the principle of “sebaik-baik manusia yang bermanfaat bagi sesama” (the best of people are those who are beneficial to others).
Personal Perspective
This unexpected journey from a failed political candidate to a successful community leader showcases the resilience and determination of individuals like Ahmad Amarullah. Despite setbacks in one arena, he found a way to make a positive impact in his neighborhood and serve his community with dedication and humility. This story serves as a reminder that failure is not the end but an opportunity for growth and transformation, leading to unexpected successes and new beginnings.
