The 24th Anniversary Celebration of BPOM: A Milestone Rooted in Indonesia’s Vision for 2045
BPOM Goes Global: Soaring, Grounded, and Rooted for Indonesia’s Golden 2045 was the theme of the grand 24th-anniversary celebration of the Indonesian Food and Drug Monitoring Agency (BPOM).
The festivities took place with a blend of in-person and virtual events at the Bhinneka Tunggal Ika Building and through a Zoom meeting on Friday, January 31, 2025. The head of BPOM, Taruna Ikrar, reflected on the 24-year journey of the agency, emphasizing the period as a time of growth and development. “As an institution, we must be grateful that BPOM continues to evolve and progress,” he expressed.
Looking ahead, Taruna Ikrar stressed the importance of BPOM’s increased national and international presence post its 24th birthday. “We hope that at this 24-year mark, BPOM will make history by gaining a reputation as a globally recognized institution, specifically as a WHO Listed Authority (WLA),” the Head of BPOM articulated.
Furthermore, Taruna Ikrar highlighted the special attention given by President Prabowo to BPOM, acknowledging the agency’s vital role in enhancing public health, supporting micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs), and fortifying the national economy and resilience.
100 Days of Leadership: Strengthening Local Power, Reaching Global Positions
During the first 100 days of Taruna Ikrar’s tenure as the Head of BPOM, various efforts were made and documented in the book “Knitting Local Strength, Reaching Global Positions: Achievements of the First 100 Days of BPOM Leadership.” The book was officially released as part of the anniversary celebration.
In addition to the book launch, BPOM initiated the soft launch of the National Medicine and Food Day, which is currently in the approval process. At this event, BPOM also recognized individuals and organizations who have made significant contributions to the monitoring of drugs and food products.
Directly from the Head of BPOM, awards in the form of certificates were presented to Yulianto (Natural Ingredient Drug Cadre, Safe Health Supplements, and Inspiring Cosmetics), Andri Prasetiyo (Natural Ingredient Drug Cadre, Safe Health Supplements, and Creative Cosmetics), Griselda Anindya Nareswara (Food Safety Cadre for Disability Groups in the Western Region), and Yohana Maitimu (Food Safety Cadre for Disability Groups in the Eastern Region).
Recognition was also extended to the Maluku Province (Local Government, Drug Commodities), the Jakarta Special Capital Region (Local Government, Natural Ingredient Drugs and Cosmetics Commodities), as well as the cities of Depok and Bandung (Local Government, Food Commodities).
Apart from acknowledging the public for their role in overseeing drugs and food products, BPOM also showed appreciation internally. Recognitions were given to the Best Agent of Change Team, BPOM Heroes, Outstanding Employees, Best Organizational Performance Award, and the Corruption-Free Work Unit Award.
Taruna Ikrar expressed his utmost appreciation and gratitude for the dedication of BPOM employees across the country, acknowledging their commitment and hard work in safeguarding public health and welfare.
