Pertamina Supports Jambi City Government’s Efforts to Prevent Subsidized Fuel Abuse
Jambi, January 8, 2024 – In an effort to monitor the distribution of subsidized fuel, the City Government through the Transportation Agency in Jambi City will activate a Joint Team to minimize the misuse of subsidized fuel in the city.
Head of the Transportation Agency in Jambi City, Saleh Ridho, stated that the activation of this Joint Team is due to the numerous vehicles misusing subsidized fuel for resale purposes. “In carrying out the operations of this Joint Team, the Transportation Agency in Jambi City has coordinated with Pertamina to help block the license plate numbers of vehicles that have been proven to misuse subsidized fuel,” he said.
Area Manager of Communication, Relations & CSR at Pertamina Patra Niaga Regional Sumbagsel, Tjahyo Nikho Indrawan, expressed Pertamina’s support for the program initiated by the Transportation Agency in Jambi City to ensure that the distribution of subsidized fuel is more targeted. “We welcome the synergy of the Jambi City Government, which continues to actively collaborate with us in monitoring the distribution of subsidized fuel and promoting fair energy, as there are still many users who misuse subsidized fuel that they are not entitled to consume,” Nikho stated.
On the other hand, Sales Area Manager Retail in Jambi, Bima Kusuma Aji, explained that in realizing targeted distribution, Pertamina continues to enhance synergy with local governments, the police, and also invites the public to participate in monitoring and reporting any deviations or improper distributions. “We have also emphasized to all distributors to distribute subsidized fuel in accordance with applicable regulations, and we will not hesitate to impose sanctions if there are gas stations that engage in any form of cheating related to the distribution of subsidized fuel,” Bima emphasized.
The Importance of Combating Fuel Misuse
Efforts to prevent the abuse of subsidized fuel are crucial in ensuring that the benefits of such subsidies reach their intended beneficiaries. By cracking down on those who misuse subsidized fuel, authorities can ensure that the limited resources allocated for this purpose are utilized effectively and efficiently. This not only helps in promoting transparency but also creates a fairer distribution system for all citizens.
Collaborative Approach for Effective Monitoring
The collaboration between the Jambi City Government and Pertamina highlights the importance of a joint effort in combating fuel misuse. By working together, both parties can leverage their respective strengths and resources to create a more robust monitoring system. This collaboration sets a positive example for other regions facing similar challenges, showing that a united front is key to addressing complex issues such as fuel abuse.
Community Participation in Oversight
Involving the community in monitoring and reporting any irregularities in fuel distribution is essential for maintaining accountability and transparency. When citizens are empowered to play an active role in oversight, it not only enhances the effectiveness of monitoring efforts but also fosters a sense of ownership and responsibility among the public. This grassroots approach can significantly contribute to the success of initiatives aimed at curbing fuel misuse and promoting fair energy practices.
By taking a proactive stance against fuel abuse, both the Jambi City Government and Pertamina are demonstrating their commitment to upholding the integrity of subsidized fuel distribution. Through their collaborative efforts and engagement with the community, they are working towards a more equitable and sustainable energy future for all.
