President Prabowo Subianto’s unwavering dedication to the development of Indonesia’s new capital city, Nusantara, in East Kalimantan, was reaffirmed by Presidential Communication Office (PCO) spokesperson Dedek Prayudi. Prayudi emphasized that Prabowo’s commitment to Nusantara is on par with his predecessor, President Joko Widodo, showcasing a seamless transition in the country’s development agenda.

Assessing Progress in Nusantara

In a recent visit to the new capital in late December 2024, the PCO team assessed the ongoing infrastructure development, with a particular focus on the Nusantara Mosque project. Prayudi highlighted that the development in Nusantara is making significant strides, with no delays reported, signaling a promising future for the ambitious project.

Shift towards Investor Support

While the state budget has been pivotal in kickstarting the development of Nusantara, Prayudi hinted at a gradual transition towards less reliance on state funds. This shift is backed by the growing confidence of both domestic and foreign investors in the Indonesian government’s commitment to Nusantara’s development. Investments continue to pour into the project, showcasing a positive outlook for the city’s future.

Continuity in Strategic Projects

Addressing concerns about the continuity of national strategic projects (PSNs) initiated during President Jokowi’s tenure, Prayudi reassured the public that these projects remain a top priority under President Prabowo’s leadership. While the current focus lies on eight quick-win programs centered around human resources, the PSNs are progressing without interruption, ensuring a holistic approach to Nusantara’s development.

Financial Milestones

Deputy Minister of Finance Suahasil Nazara provided insight into the financial aspect of Nusantara’s development, revealing that the budget realization for 2024 amounted to Rp43.4 trillion, representing 97.3 percent of the initial ceiling. The total allocation for Nusantara’s development from 2022 to 2024 stood at Rp75.8 trillion, underlining the government’s substantial investment in this transformative project.

As Nusantara continues to evolve into a symbol of progress and innovation, the Indonesian government’s steadfast commitment and strategic vision pave the way for a future city that embodies the nation’s aspirations. With a blend of state support and investor confidence, Nusantara stands poised to redefine Indonesia’s landscape, offering a glimpse into a future where development knows no bounds.
