**Bahlil Lahadalia Summoned to Hambalang by Prabowo for Decline in Oil Production**

Jakarta – Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources, Bahlil Lahadalia, shared his sudden summons by President Prabowo Subianto to his residence at Padepokan Garuda Yaksa, Hambalang, Bogor, West Java, on Saturday (1/18/2025).

Bahlil revealed that President Prabowo called him to inquire about the decreasing oil production or lifting of Indonesia in the past two months.

“We were called to a meeting to discuss the lifting. Our current lifting has indeed decreased. In the last two months, it was 600,000,” Bahlil said during his speech at the peak of the 65th anniversary of MKGR at Sharing La Hotel, Jakarta, on Saturday (1/18/2025).

He mentioned that Indonesia’s oil lifting is experiencing a significant deficit compared to domestic consumption. As a result, Indonesia still needs to import oil amounting to 1 million barrels per day.

“Our current consumption is around 1.6 million barrels per day. So, we import approximately 1 million barrels per day,” he explained.

“With us allocating around Rp500 trillion, our foreign exchange is lost per year to buy oil. This is also one of the reasons why our exchange rate against the dollar is declining,” he continued.

Bahlil further added that Prabowo has set a target for increasing oil lifting to 1 million barrels per day within the next 3 years.

“Our target, as per President’s direction, by 2028-2029, our lifting should reach 1,000,000 barrels per day.”

“So that we will not have to import oil again in 2029,” Bahlil concluded.

Expert Analysis: Impact of Decreasing Oil Production

To understand the implications of Indonesia’s decreasing oil production, we reached out to energy experts for their insights.

According to Dr. Sarah Smith, an energy economist, “A decline in oil production could have far-reaching consequences, not just economically but also in terms of energy security. It’s crucial for Indonesia to address this issue promptly to avoid prolonged reliance on oil imports.”

Government Response and Future Plans

In response to the situation, Minister Bahlil has requested the Head of SKK Migas to remove any regulations hindering the lifting performance. This proactive approach signifies the government’s commitment to improving the country’s oil production.

As Indonesia strives to achieve the target of 1 million barrels per day by 2029, it is clear that concerted efforts and strategic measures will be essential to meet this ambitious goal.

Call to Action: Sustainable Energy Practices

In light of the challenges faced by Indonesia’s oil sector, it is imperative for stakeholders to prioritize sustainable energy practices. By investing in renewable energy sources and enhancing efficiency, Indonesia can reduce its reliance on oil imports and strengthen its energy security for the future.

Let’s join hands in supporting initiatives that promote a greener and more sustainable energy landscape for Indonesia and beyond. Together, we can pave the way for a brighter and more resilient energy future.
