National K3 Month Campaign: PT Pertamina Hulu East Kalimantan Invites Workers’ Families to Visit Drilling Rig
Balikpapan – On Tuesday (06/02), PT Pertamina Hulu Kalimantan Timur (PHKT) Regional Kalimantan Subholding Upstream Pertamina invited workers’ families to visit the oil drilling rig Asian Endeavour-1 (AE-1) currently docked in Balikpapan, East Kalimantan. This rare event, titled A Day as Offshore Rig Crew, is part of the campaign for National Occupational Safety and Health (K3) Month 2024 within the PHKT environment.
Unique Opportunity for Families
The visit to the rig was facilitated by the Drilling Well Intervention (DWLI) Function of PHKT Zona 10, aiming to promote the importance of safety to the 99 participants taken on a rig tour at the PT China Oilfield Services Limited (COSL) rig facility. Participants had the chance to experience the offshore drilling work environment in areas like the main deck, helideck, cantilever, rig floor, radio room, and galley.
Manager Drilling Zona 10, Ted S Pelawi, emphasized to visiting workers’ families at the rig facility that safety is the cornerstone of the Company in carrying out all upstream oil and gas operations and businesses to support the national energy needs. Ted highlighted that the company management always reminds all workers to focus on safety in line with the slogan “Working Safely Increases Productivity.”
Emphasis on Safety and Family
“Our top priority is to work safely and securely. After all, our beloved families are waiting for us to return home safely,” he stated. Director of PT COSL Indonesia Niu Decheng welcomed and expressed pride in the successful organization of such activities, thanking PHKT for creating this opportunity as a large family event in upstream oil and gas.

Niu Decheng also highlighted the importance of energy in daily life and assured that both PHKT and his company will continue to work hard to ensure an uninterrupted energy supply.
Community Collaboration for Safety
Head of Communication Relations & CID Zona 10 Dharma Saputra explained that PHKT organizes various activities to commemorate National K3 Month 2024, which is celebrated nationwide for a full month from January 12 to February 12, 2024. Dharma emphasized the involvement of families in this program as they play a role in building safety awareness in the community.
