PT SMI Breaks Records with 22.8% Revenue Growth in 2023

In a remarkable show of strength, PT Sarana Multi Infrastruktur (Persero) (PT SMI) achieved outstanding performance last year. The company’s revenue surged by an impressive 22.8% in the previous year. PT SMI reported revenues totaling Rp 7.6 trillion, a significant increase from the previous year’s revenue of Rp 6.2 trillion.

During a Media Briefing event and Iftar with the media on Wednesday, March 27, 2024, at the PT SMI office in Sahid Sudirman Center, Jakarta, PT SMI’s Director of Operations and Finance, Darwin Trisna Djajawinata, shared this exciting news. Darwin highlighted the company’s success in driving revenue growth, thanks to the hard work of all SMIers, as PT SMI employees are affectionately known.

“We are delighted with our performance last year, which once again saw revenue growth. This achievement is a result of the dedication of our SMIers and the support of our stakeholders. However, we are not content to stop here, as we are committed to continued growth and even better performance this year,” explained Darwin.

Financial Highlights and Strategic Initiatives

In addition to the revenue growth, the company’s Gross Income in 2023 also saw an increase of 21.4% compared to the previous year, rising from Rp 3.1 trillion in 2022 to Rp 3.8 trillion in 2023. Furthermore, PT SMI’s financing and investment activities in 2023 contributed to the development of infrastructure projects worth Rp 727.3 trillion. The company’s financing commitment throughout the year amounted to Rp 137.7 trillion, with outstanding financing and investments totaling Rp 91.3 trillion.

Looking ahead to 2024, PT SMI remains committed to maintaining growth consistency and improving its performance. PT SMI’s CEO, Edwin Syahruzad, mentioned that the company has prepared strategic plans and initiatives to focus on this year. The Long-Term Company Plan for 2024-2028 has been approved by the shareholders, with a focus on expanding portfolios in sectors such as water, health, and waste management, which are considered underserved but have high socio-economic impact.

Future Plans and Transformations

Moreover, PT SMI plans to strengthen public transformation through the Loan Program, public financing strategies with clustering, and enhancing research capacity through the SMI Institute. Organizational strengthening is also underway to support public transformation, including a global secondment program to the World Bank for Cross Learning Programs related to public financing.

In the energy transition realm, the company will strengthen its role as the Energy Transition Mechanism Country Platform Manager. PT SMI is also preparing to establish a Trust Fund, initiated in 2023 with the issuance of the P2SK Law. This Trust Fund aims to manage grant funds to support infrastructure development in Indonesia. The company will actively support the acceleration of infrastructure provision in the Capital City (IKN), including through the Unsolicited KPBU scheme.
