PDIP Celebrates 52nd Anniversary with Wayang Performance ‘The Birth of Wisanggeni’
In a grand celebration marking the 52nd anniversary of the Partai Demokrasi Indonesia Perjuangan (PDIP), a mesmerizing wayang performance titled ‘Satyam Eva Jayate: Api Perjuangan Nan Tak Kunjung Padam’ unfolded at the Masjid At-Taufiq courtyard in Lenteng Agung, South Jakarta, on Friday, January 17, 2025, evening.
Wayang Performance Details
The enchanting wayang show, a regular feature organized by the DPP PDIP, showcased the story of ‘The Birth of Wisanggeni.’ The puppet master, or Dalang, for the night was Ki Amar Pradopo Warseno Slank, accompanied by Ki Sri Susilo Thengkleng.
Among the distinguished guests present were the Secretary-General of DPP PDIP, Hasto Kristiyanto, alongside Deputy Secretary-General Yoseph Aryo Adhi Dharmo, Treasurer Yuke Yurike, and PDIP politician Muhammad Guntur Romli. The event also saw the attendance of PDIP Chairperson Prof. Dr. Megawati Soekarnoputri, who witnessed the wayang performance virtually.
Community Involvement and Opening Ceremony
Not limited to party officials, hundreds of local residents around the Lenteng Agung Party School joined in the wayang festivities, displaying immense enthusiasm for the traditional art form. The event commenced with a rendition of the national anthem, ‘Indonesia Raya,’ followed by prayers before the captivating wayang spectacle began.

During his opening remarks, Hasto shared Megawati’s profound message, emphasizing the significance of PDIP’s anniversary theme, ‘Satyam Eva Jayate: Api Perjuangan Nan Tak Kunjung Padam.’ This theme underscores the essence of political struggle to ensure Indonesia’s sovereignty, independence, and cultural identity.
Hasto further elaborated on Megawati’s reflections, highlighting the challenges ahead termed as ‘Vivere pericoloso.’ Despite facing various dangers and obstacles, PDIP remains steadfast in its commitment to navigate through these turbulent times by fostering unity with the people.
