**9 Million Farmers Covered by Rice Farming Insurance**
JAKARTA — In a groundbreaking move to support farmers in managing the risks of crop failure and securing the future of agriculture in Indonesia, Jasindo has provided rice farming insurance through the Agricultural Business Insurance Program (AUTP) to over 9 million farmers across the country. By the end of 2024, a total of 5.8 million hectares of agricultural land have been protected under the AUTP, with an aim to achieve food self-sufficiency in Indonesia.
**Commitment to Farmers’ Well-being**
Brellian Gema, the Corporate Secretary of Jasindo, emphasized the understanding of the risks faced by farmers each season. The AUTP program serves as a means to alleviate these concerns and reduce anxiety among farmers. The commitment of Jasindo to mitigate the risks of crop failure resulting from natural disasters, pests, and diseases is evident in their collaboration with relevant ministries, local governments, and agricultural communities.
**Empowering Farmers with Technology**
Jasindo is dedicated to expanding its efforts to reduce risks associated with crop failure by encouraging the use of the Agricultural Insurance Information System (SIAP) application. This initiative aims to simplify the claims process for farmers, enhance the accessibility of services, and ensure a faster and more transparent claims process.
**Steps to Claim AUTP Benefits**
To assist farmers in accessing the protection offered by the AUTP program, the following steps are crucial:
1. **Report Crop Damage:** Farmers are urged to promptly report crop damage to Field Agricultural Extension Officers (PPL). Initial reports can be submitted in person, via phone, or through text messages, accompanied by the necessary claim documentation through the SIAP application.
2. **Prepare Supporting Documents:** Farmers must provide documents such as photos of crop damage with coordinates and date, a copy of their ID, and a letter from the Village Head if the location lacks internet access.
3. **Verification Process:** Field Agricultural Extension Officers or Plant Pest Control Officers will inspect the damage on-site. The inspection results will be documented in an Inspection Report uploaded to the SIAP application.
4. **Claim Disbursement:** Upon approval of the claim and verification of complete documentation, Jasindo will issue a Discharge Form as a claim settlement confirmation. Compensation will be transferred to the farmers’ group account.
**Ensuring Farmers’ Livelihoods**
With benefits of up to Rp 6 million per hectare per planting season, the AUTP program guarantees that farmers have the necessary funds to continue farming even in the event of crop failure. Brellian expressed hopes of further supporting the improvement of national food security and providing protection to farmers throughout Indonesia through this program.
