Title: Indonesia’s Creative Economy Sector Gears Up for Golden Indonesia 2045
Jakarta, July 25, 2024 – Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy/Head of Tourism and Creative Economy Agency (Menparekraf/Kabaparekraf) Sandiaga Salahuddin Uno has called on the younger generation to actively strengthen Indonesia’s creative economy sector in anticipation of Golden Indonesia 2045.
During Jakarta Creative Day: Innovate & Elevate Empowering Tomorrow’s Creative Leaders for Generation Gold 2045 at Balairung Soesilo Soedarman, Sapta Pesona Building, Central Jakarta, on Thursday (7/25/2024), Menparekraf Sandiaga stated that the younger generation, including high school students, must enhance their potential to actively contribute to advancing Indonesia, particularly in the creative economy sector. Therefore, they must prepare themselves by pursuing the highest education.
“Let’s nurture creativity and innovation with critical thinking, and I believe you all can innovate, sharpen your creativity, achieve success, and face global challenges,” said Sandiaga.
Menparekraf Sandiaga also advised the younger generation not to miss the opportunity to study abroad. Hence, he appreciated the collaboration between the University of New South Wales (UNSW) College, Australia, and PT. Unisadhuguna Education (USG Education) for offering Indonesian students the chance to pursue their studies overseas.
“I want to remind all of us that education plays a crucial role, and this Jakarta Creative Day will unlock the potential and talent of students. To parents and teachers, let’s support and guide our children on their journey towards a bright future,” he added.
According to Sandiaga, to enhance the creative economy potential in Indonesia, trained and educated human resources are essential. Especially since Indonesia’s creative industry revenue ranks third globally after the United States and South Korea.
“Our creative economy’s added value has exceeded Rp1,400 trillion and contributes up to eight percent to the economy. The creative economy export value has reached nearly $24 billion in 2023, and 24 million Indonesians rely on the creative industry and economy,” Sandiaga explained.
In the same event, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of UNSW College, Sarah Lightfoot, expressed appreciation for the collaboration with USG Education and the support from Menparekraf in improving Indonesia’s human resources quality.
“May this collaboration in the future produce the best generation in embracing Golden Indonesia 2045,” Sarah remarked.
Meanwhile, the President Director of PT USG Education, Adhirama G. Tusin, encouraged the younger generation to remain confident and take risks in their creative endeavors.
“Be lifelong learners, dare to take risks, and always believe in yourselves,” Adhirama advised.
The event was attended by hundreds of students from various high schools in Jakarta. Also present were Deputy of Digital Economy and Creative Product Kemenparekraf/Baparekraf, Muhammad Neil El Himam; Secretary of Deputy of Digital Economy and Creative Product Kemenparekraf/Baparekraf, Riwud Mujirahayu; and Director of Creative Industries Fashion, Design, and Culinary Kemenparekraf/Baparekraf, Yuke Sri Rahayu.
Empowering the Youth for a Brighter Future
As we look towards Indonesia’s Golden 2045, the call to strengthen the creative economy sector resonates now more than ever. The efforts to empower the younger generation to innovate and elevate themselves as tomorrow’s creative leaders are crucial in shaping a prosperous future for Indonesia.
Sandiaga’s message to the youth is clear: education is the key to unlocking their potential and contributing actively to Indonesia’s growth. By fostering creativity, critical thinking, and a global mindset, the youth can pave the way for a more vibrant and competitive creative economy.
Collaboration for Success
The collaboration between UNSW College, USG Education, and the Indonesian government highlights the importance of partnerships in nurturing talent and enhancing human resources. By providing opportunities for students to study abroad and gain international exposure, Indonesia is investing in a generation of innovative and globally competitive individuals.
Believing in the Power of Youth
The words of encouragement from Sarah Lightfoot and Adhirama G. Tusin serve as a reminder that confidence, risk-taking, and continuous learning are essential ingredients for success in the creative economy. As the younger generation embraces these principles, they can unlock their full potential and contribute significantly to Indonesia’s journey towards Golden 2045.
The Jakarta Creative Day event is not just a gathering of students but a platform for inspiration, collaboration, and empowerment. As we witness the enthusiasm and passion of the youth, it becomes evident that Indonesia’s creative economy sector is on the path to greatness, driven by the energy and creativity of its future leaders.
