PT PGN Tbk Committed to Building National Gas Networks to Reduce Energy Subsidies
Jakarta – In a bid to reduce energy subsidies and provide benefits to the community and country, PT PGN Tbk, as part of Pertamina’s Gas Subholding, is steadfast in its commitment to expanding household gas networks (jargas).
Challenges and Solutions in Gas Network Development
Recognizing the complexity of the jargas development business chain, PGN emphasizes the need for collaborative efforts to ensure optimal benefits for the public. During the FGD Investortrust event themed “Gotong Royong Membangun Jargas” on Tuesday, 29/10/2024, the reduction of energy subsidies emerged as a key priority.
Laode Sulaeman, Director of Planning and Infrastructure Development for Oil and Natural Gas at the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources, highlighted the importance of an integrated model for jargas development. This integration between industries and households or industrial zones, coupled with mechanisms beyond pipelines, is crucial for sustainable projects.
Collaboration and Contributions for Energy Self-Sufficiency
Idham Baridwan, Coordinator of Account Regulation, Tariff, and Gas Pricing at BPH Migas, emphasized the need for collective action and a shared goal to support gas utilization in domestic settings. Collaboration and contributions from all stakeholders are key to achieving energy self-sufficiency.
Future Plans and Infrastructure Development
Looking ahead, Rosa Permata Sari, Director of Strategy and Business Development at PGN, underscored the significant investment required for jargas development. By adopting the Public-Private Partnership (KPBU) concept and integrating or clustering projects, costs can be optimized, opening up opportunities for both state-owned and private enterprises to contribute to the jargas program.
With ongoing efforts to tap into natural gas sources for household jargas development, PGN is expanding its transmission pipelines and distribution networks to reach more homes. The implementation of innovative concepts like CNG Clustering in Sleman, Yogyakarta, demonstrates PGN’s commitment to enhancing gas accessibility.
Rosa emphasized PGN’s readiness to collaborate with partners in building jargas infrastructure for seamless integration with future industrial and commercial developments. The focus remains on obtaining necessary support, including streamlined permitting processes, allocation certainty, and the construction of jargas infrastructure as an essential component of residential living spaces.
