PT Elnusa Tbk Breaks Ground with First Seismic Survey in Coal Mining Area Using Vibroseis Technology
In a groundbreaking move, PT Elnusa Tbk (Elnusa, IDX: ELSA), a subsidiary of PT Pertamina Hulu Energi (PHE) under the Subholding Upstream Pertamina, has successfully conducted its inaugural seismic survey in the coal mining concession area of PT Wahana Baratama Mining (a member of the Bayan Group) in Tanah Laut Regency, South Kalimantan.
This survey marks a significant milestone for Elnusa as it ventures into coal mining exploration in Indonesia, prioritizing cutting-edge technology to generate precise, efficient, and environmentally friendly exploration data.
Cutting-Edge Technology for Precise Results

During the survey, Elnusa utilized Vibroseis IVI EnviroVib 15 and Hemi 44 as the vibrating sources known for their high mobility and energy efficiency, thus being efficient in producing quality seismic signals. Additionally, the survey was supported by the Smart SOLO IGU-16 1C (5Hz) receiver, an autonomous nodal system offering various advantages, making it an ideal choice for advanced geoscience exploration.
“The technologies we employ, such as Vibroseis and Smart SOLO, enable us to provide accurate, efficient, and relevant exploration data tailored to our customers’ needs,” added Bachtiar.
Detailed Design for Strategic Decision-Making
Elnusa has completed the initial design for a 3D survey covering an area of 25.85 km² with 9,132 recording points. Additionally, the survey includes 7 tracks of 2D surveys totaling 13.14 km in length and encompassing 1,321 recording points. This design is expected to yield more detailed and precise subsurface data to support strategic decision-making in exploration.
