Ensuring Clean Energy Supply During Nataru 2025

Jakarta, December 23, 2024 – Pertamina New & Renewable Energy (Pertamina NRE) and its subsidiaries have guaranteed readiness to support Indonesia’s energy needs, especially from more environmentally friendly sources, leading up to and during the Christmas and New Year (Nataru) holiday season of 2024-2025.

Commitment to Environmental Sustainability

In a strategic move to maintain supply stability amidst increasing consumption during the holiday period, Corporate Secretary of Pertamina NRE, Dicky Septriadi, emphasized their commitment to providing environmentally friendly electricity to ensure operational reliability for the community.

“We are committed to meeting the energy needs of the people, especially during the Nataru holidays, particularly electricity from environmentally friendly sources. This is in line with our vision to support energy transition and create a greener future for Indonesia. Our operational reliability ensures safety for the public to enjoy and carry out activities comfortably during the holidays,” explained Dicky.

Enhancing Operational Coordination for Peak Energy Consumption

Dicky further elaborated that Pertamina NRE continues to improve coordination to ensure operational reliability during peak energy consumption periods, specifically for the Nataru holidays. Support for clean energy supply during Nataru 2024-2025 includes Solar Power Plants (PLTS) in various Pertamina Group operational areas such as the Rokan oil and gas working area with a capacity of 25.7 Megawatt peak (MWp) and other Pertamina operational areas like refineries, gas stations, as well as other state-owned enterprises like PT Kereta Api Indonesia (KAI) and Angkasa Pura, with a total capacity of 52 MWp.

Supporting Energy Resilience for the Community

Furthermore, Pertamina NRE is also enhancing energy resilience by supporting clean energy electricity supply for the public through its affiliate, PT Jawa Satu Power, managing the Jawa-1 Combined Cycle Power Plant in Cilamaya with a capacity of 1,760 Megawatts (MW) to support the electricity needs of Java and Bali.

In addition, through its subsidiary, PT Pertamina Geothermal Energy Tbk (PGE), Pertamina operates geothermal power plants in 6 areas in Indonesia, with a total capacity of 672.5 Megawatts (MW). Geothermal energy plays a significant role in fulfilling the electricity needs of several provinces, such as PLTP Lahendong supplying over 30% of the electricity needs in North Sulawesi and Gorontalo, as well as PLTP Ulubelu supplying around 22% of Lampung province’s electricity without interruption.

To ensure the reliability of clean energy supply, Pertamina NRE conducts commanders’ calls where management and teams in operational areas regularly report on operational readiness, including workforce numbers, health, safety, environmental management, and other operational conditions. As of now, Pertamina NRE Group guarantees clean energy generation with a total capacity of 2,493.9 MW, consisting of various types of generators spread across Indonesia.

By the end of 2024, Pertamina NRE Group has successfully produced 7,685 Gigawatt hours (GWh) of clean electricity, surpassing the production plan by 13%. As the Nataru holidays approach, Pertamina NRE urges the public to use energy wisely during the holidays to support environmental sustainability and ensure fair energy distribution.

This commitment by Pertamina NRE is not only crucial for facing the year-end holidays but also reflects its strategic role as an energy transition pillar in the country to achieve Net Zero Emission by 2060. Vice President Corporate Communication of PT Pertamina (Persero), Fadjar Djoko Santoso, added that Pertamina NRE is part of the Nataru Task Force within the Pertamina Group to serve the community in celebrating Christmas and New Year’s moments.

“The Nataru Task Force of Pertamina has been operating from December 16, 2024, to January 9, 2025. Pertamina remains on standby 24 hours a day through the Pertamina Digital Hub to ensure energy supply and maintain smooth energy distribution with support and cooperation from various relevant agencies,” stated Fadjar.
