Jakarta – The funeral of Hasjim Djalal, a senior Indonesian diplomat and international maritime law expert, is set to take place at the Kalibata Heroes Cemetery (TMP) in Jakarta on Monday (13/1/2025).

The news was announced by Hasjim’s son, Dino Patti Djalal, at the family home in the Cilandak area of South Jakarta on Sunday evening (12/1/2025).

“The burial will be tomorrow at 3 PM at Kalibata, Heroes Cemetery. Those who wish to attend are welcome,” Dino said at the location.

Hasjim Djalal passed away at Pondok Indah Hospital in South Jakarta on Sunday at 16.40 WIB.

Dino revealed that Hasjim had been ill for a long time, but he did not expect his father to pass away so suddenly.

“He had been sick for a long time, had Covid twice, survived, then lastly was informed about prostate cancer, but he said, ‘This will not defeat me,'” Dino said.

“It was not the cancer that caused his death, but other complications. He was truly a fighter,” Dino added.

Dino also admired his father for still discussing foreign politics, especially international maritime law, in the days leading up to his passing.

“He truly had diplomacy in his blood and DNA,” Dino said.
