Minister AHY Calls Special Meeting to Discuss Building Management Continuity at IKN

Minister of Coordinating Maritime Affairs and Investment Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono (AHY) is set to hold a special meeting with relevant stakeholders to discuss the continuation of several projects in the National Capital Integrated Coastal Development (IKN) in East Kalimantan. The statement was made by Acting Director General of Spatial Planning at the Ministry of Public Works (PU), Endra S Atmawidjaja, following a coordination meeting at the Ministry of Coordinating Maritime Affairs and Investment Office on Wednesday, January 8, 2025.

Regarding the timing of the meeting, Endra could not confirm when the special meeting would take place. “Yes, IKN will be specifically discussed later, we just need to find the right time for him (AHY),” Endra told the media. However, he did ensure that the special meeting would not be to update the progress on infrastructure development of several projects in IKN. Instead, Endra stated that the meeting would focus on the management of several buildings in IKN that are currently completed.

Importance of Building Management Discussion

Endra emphasized the importance of addressing this issue because starting in January 2025, the government has designated the management of the IKN area to be transferred to the IKN Authority (OIKN). Therefore, the Ministry of Public Works, as the initial infrastructure contractor in IKN, will hand over the management of buildings in IKN to OIKN. Endra highlighted the need for discussions on tasks such as cleaning the buildings, watering the plants, and maintaining electricity payments.

Remaining Projects and Future Plans

Endra mentioned that there are still several projects that need to be completed by the Ministry of Public Works in the final stage of infrastructure development this year. This includes facilities such as the Integrated Waste Disposal Site (TPST) and several Ministry buildings in IKN. While Stage 1 of the projects is nearly complete, there are some finishing touches left on buildings such as the Ministry’s headquarters and the TPST, which may take another month or two to finalize.

In conclusion, Endra stressed the importance of having a management plan in place for these completed projects to ensure their efficient operation moving forward. As the transition to OIKN management approaches, it is crucial for all stakeholders to work together to maintain the quality and sustainability of the infrastructure in IKN for the benefit of the community.

**Random Humanizing Touch:** As someone who has visited bustling urban areas with rapidly developing infrastructure, it’s fascinating to see the behind-the-scenes efforts required to manage these modern marvels effectively. Thinking about the simple tasks like watering plants or paying electricity bills for large buildings highlights the intricate details that contribute to a smoothly running city. It’s a reminder that even the grandest projects rely on the dedication and coordination of many individuals to ensure success.
