According to a report from Soha.vn on Thursday, January 9, 2025, this policy officially came into effect on January 1, 2025, through Government Decision 176/2024/ND-CP. The Ministry of Public Security in Vietnam has authorized individuals and organizations to provide information and report illegal actions and administrative violations related to traffic order and safety.
The Traffic Police Department is currently developing specific regulations to facilitate payments to violators and establish criteria for the compensation of each video content submitted by civilians. This strategic approach aims to reduce traffic violations by actively engaging the civil population in monitoring and reporting such incidents.
Incentives for Reporting Violations
Under this new policy, individuals who can substantiate traffic violations captured on video footage will be entitled to receive compensation. Specifically, citizens who provide evidence of traffic infractions are eligible to receive 10% of the fine amount imposed on the violator, with a maximum cap of Rp 3.2 million per case.
This initiative addresses the logistical challenges faced by traffic police in monitoring every location to prevent violations effectively.
