Suzuki Showcases New Carry Model Exempt from 12% VAT at IIMS 2025
The new regulation of a 12% Value Added Tax (VAT) has been implemented by the government since the beginning of January 2025. However, not all new car purchases will be subject to this 12% VAT. If you happen to visit the Suzuki booth at the Indonesia International Motor Show (IIMS) 2025 at JIExpo, which runs until Sunday, February 23, you will find a car that is exempt from the 12% VAT. This car is the New Carry.
In Hall A of the Suzuki booth, you will come across several models of the New Carry on display. These models include the New Carry pick-up for florist businesses, the New Carry with a mobile cafe application, and the New Carry equipped as a mobile charging station for electric vehicles. These three types of commercial ventures showcased at the exhibition aim to highlight the versatility of the New Suzuki pick-up.
For instance, with the New Carry model equipped for mobile charging, Suzuki is making an effort to introduce its electric vehicle ecosystem to the visitors of IIMS 2025. This initiative is significant considering that starting from early 2026, Suzuki will begin marketing its battery-based electric vehicle, the Suzuki e Vitara. As part of introducing this electric vehicle ecosystem, Suzuki has also put on display a concept car, the Suzuki eWX, at IIMS 2025 to capture the attention of the visitors.
Returning to the New Carry, which serves as the model exempt from the 12% VAT, this pick-up currently plays a crucial role in Suzuki’s sales in Indonesia. Harold Donnel, the Marketing Director of 4W at PT Suzuki Indomobil Sales, shared during a media conversation at the Suzuki booth on Thursday, February 20, 2025, that this pick-up contributes over 50% to Suzuki’s total sales in Indonesia.
Donnel mentioned, “Sales of the Carry are still on track until February. It is a blessing in disguise that commercial vehicles are not subject to the 12% VAT because the New Carry is essentially meant for business purposes, driving the economy. The sales contribution of the New Carry to PT SIS remains above 50%.”
When it comes to the future development of this pick-up, Donnel stated that they do not plan to market the New Carry in a blind van format or with a station cabin like their competitor models. Considering the scale of the economy and the ease of acquiring units, Suzuki will delegate the development of New Carry variants to industrial body partners.
He emphasized, “For the development of New Carry variants, we continue to collaborate with our body partners because the volume and quantity needs can still be met by them. With the existing cost and price composition, it becomes the most efficient business technique for Suzuki.”
“This also aligns with our commitment to the principle of value for money for consumers,” added Donnel.
The price list for the New Carry at IIMS 2025 is as follows:
– Pick-Up Flat-Deck STD: Rp169.9 million
– Pick-Up Flat-Deck AC-PS: Rp177.9 million
– Pick-Up Wide-Deck STD: Rp171 million
– Pick-Up Wide-Deck AC-PS: Rp178.8 million
The New Carry model showcased by Suzuki at IIMS 2025 not only demonstrates innovation in the commercial vehicle sector but also underlines the brand’s commitment to providing value and efficiency to its consumers. With the exemption from the 12% VAT, the New Carry emerges as a practical and cost-effective choice for businesses and individuals alike.
