A teenage girl named NH, aged 15, from Medan caused quite a stir after a video of her claiming to be kidnapped by an old lady at Pasar Simpang Limun went viral on social media. However, the police investigation later revealed that the video was actually a hoax created by NH herself. The case unfolded when NH was found safe on Pulau Punjung, Dharmasraya, Sumatera Barat on Saturday, May 10, 2025, just two days after being reported missing by her foster parent, Siti Fatimah Nasution.
The incident started on Thursday, May 8, 2025, when NH left home, supposedly to return her school books. Instead, she recorded a video claiming to be kidnapped by an old lady at Pasar Simpang Limun. She then sent the video to her foster parent, making it seem like a real kidnapping. Panicked, Siti Fatimah Nasution immediately reported the incident to the Medan Kota Police Station on Saturday morning. Following the report, the police conducted a search and coordinated with authorities at the district level. The search eventually led to NH being found near the Pulau Punjung Police Station, Dharmasraya, Sumatera Barat, on Saturday evening around 4:00 pm.
From the interrogation, it was revealed that NH had indeed planned to run away from home and head to Jakarta to meet her family there. NH, accompanied by the police, admitted to creating the video herself. She mentioned having family issues that she couldn’t explain, hinting at personal reasons for her actions. Not really sure why this matters, but NH’s attempt to fake her own kidnapping certainly caused quite a commotion before the truth came to light. Perhaps it’s just me, but it seems like NH was facing some serious problems at home, leading her to take such drastic measures.
