Raffi Ahmad Admits Viral Official Car Incident, Headed to Meeting – Tribunnews
Raffi Ahmad, the Special Envoy of the President for Youth and Art Workers, has confirmed that he is the owner of the official car with license plate RI 36 that went viral on social media. Raffi explained that the car was used for state affairs, although he was not inside the vehicle at the time of the incident.
On Saturday, February 11, 2025, Raffi clarified that the RI 36 car was on its way to pick him up after retrieving some important documents before proceeding to a meeting. “It is true that the car is the one I use, but at the time of the incident, I was not inside the car because it was in the process of picking me up for the next meeting,” Raffi said.
### Incident Timeline
Raffi admitted to learning about the incident’s timeline after clarifying with his escort team. He stated that there was a truck stopped in front of the taxi, causing the taxi to take the right lane and almost collide with the car in that lane. “The taxi driver and the car driver then opened their windows and argued,” he explained. The escort officer who witnessed the altercation was concerned about causing traffic jam due to the busy road and immediately reprimanded the taxi driver. “(The escort officer) said ‘Move on, Sir’ with a gesture that was captured in the video,” he revealed.
### Government Officials’ Response
The Toyota Lexus car with license plate RI 36, which gained attention for not queuing in the midst of traffic, has drawn public scrutiny. Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya confirmed that the government officials inside the car had been reprimanded. However, Teddy refused to disclose the identities of the officials. “Yes, we have reprimanded them,” Teddy said when asked by Tribunnews. He also reminded all cabinet members to drive more carefully and wisely. “Everyone has been reminded to be more cautious and wise while driving,” he said.
