Indonesia’s Ministry of Communication and Digital Affairs made a big announcement on Monday, revealing that they have removed almost 380,000 pieces of pornographic content by May 18. The goal? To create a safe, comfy, and super productive digital space for everyone to enjoy. Alexander Sabar, the head honcho of Cyberspace Supervision at the ministry, spilled the beans that these items were just a small slice of the 1.8 million harmful digital bits n’ bobs that got the boot since October 2024.

Sabar stressed that the ministry’s main focus is on getting rid of those naughty pornographic materials ASAP. Why? To stop them from spreading like wildfire online and to shield the innocent kiddos from harmful stuff. Oh, and get this – the ministry got wind of some Facebook groups promoting some explicit content, so they shut down six of those bad boys. And that’s not all! Since October 20, 2024, they’ve also put the kibosh on 29 Facebook groups, 50 accounts, and 19 posts for breaking the anti-pornography rules.

But wait, there’s more! Seventeen accounts on everyone’s fave social media platform, X, were also given the boot for sharing similar saucy stuff. The ministry isn’t messing around when it comes to kicking digital threats to the curb. They’ve even got patrols working round the clock to keep an eye out for any inappropriate content floating about online. Sabar wants the public to lend a hand by reporting any sketchy or illegal content they stumble upon. So, if you see something fishy, don’t keep it to yourself – report it on the ministry’s official platform, aduankonten.id. Let’s all pitch in to keep Indonesia’s digital space squeaky clean for the kiddos, shall we?
