President Prabowo Subianto is set to attend the May Day event at Monas area in Jakarta tomorrow, as confirmed by State Secretary Minister Prasetyo Hadi. Hadi mentioned that the president has been invited by the event organizers and has shown interest in joining the celebrations. He added that President Prabowo’s presence aims to show the government’s appreciation for the crucial role of Indonesian workers in boosting the national economy.
Hadi, who is also the spokesperson for President Prabowo, emphasized the importance of collaboration between the government, employers, and workers. He stated, “The president and the government see workers as a vital part of our economy. So, it’s crucial for them to work together towards common goals.” The minister highlighted that President Prabowo believes that cooperation among these three parties is essential for sustainable economic growth in Indonesia.
The Confederation of Indonesian Trade Unions (KSPI), the main organizer of the event, plans to address six key labor issues during the May Day celebration. These include issues like ending outsourcing, forming a Task Force on Employment Termination, and ensuring fair wages for workers. Additionally, the KSPI will push for legislative changes such as the approval of the Domestic Worker Protection Bill, the Asset Forfeiture Bill, and a new Employment Law.
KSPI President Said Iqbal mentioned that around 200 thousand workers from various regions are expected to participate in the event. Workers from Jakarta, Bogor, Tangerang, Depok, Bekasi, Karawang, Purwakarta, Serang, and Cilegon will join the celebration. Moreover, workers from 30 provinces across Indonesia will hold similar events in their respective areas, focusing on labor-related issues through speeches and demonstrations.
Iqbal noted, “Reports from the regions indicate that over 1.2 million workers will take part in the May Day celebrations nationwide.” The significant turnout reflects the importance of addressing labor concerns and advocating for workers’ rights in the country.
As the event approaches, anticipation grows among workers and organizers alike. The May Day celebration serves as a platform for workers to voice their grievances and push for necessary reforms in the labor sector. The presence of President Prabowo underscores the government’s commitment to supporting and recognizing the contributions of Indonesian workers to the economy.
In conclusion, the May Day event at Monas will not only be a day of celebration but also a day of advocacy for labor rights and fair treatment of workers. The gathering of thousands of workers from different regions highlights the solidarity and unity among Indonesian laborers in fighting for their rights. The government’s acknowledgment of these efforts through President Prabowo’s attendance signifies a step towards addressing labor issues and promoting a more inclusive and supportive environment for workers in Indonesia.
