President RI Prabowo Subianto’s attitude sitting close to Vice President RI-6 Try Sutrisno can be interpreted in several ways, according to Executive Director of Charta Politika Yunarto Wijaya. It is worth noting that Prabowo was seated near Try Sutrisno when attending the Halal Bihalal event of retired Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI AD) officers at Balai Kartini, Jakarta, on Tuesday, May 6, 2025. They were sitting at the same table with Indonesian Minister of Defense (Menhan) Sjafrie Sjamsoeddin, Yogyakarta Governor Sultan Hamengkubuwono X, and Presidential Special Advisor Wiranto. Not only did they share a table, but Prabowo also took the time to pay his respects to Try Sutrisno before delivering his speech.
Prabowo’s gesture at the event garnered attention amidst the clamor of proposals from the TNI-Polri Retirees Forum, one of which was urging the impeachment of Vice President RI Gibran Rakabuming Raka. Moreover, Try Sutrisno, who previously served as Vice President RI, was also one of the retired TNI officers who signed the proposal. The forum proposing Gibran’s removal consists of several senior figures, including 103 retired generals, 73 admirals, 65 air marshals, and 91 colonels. Other figures who signed this proposal include retired TNI General Fachrul Razi, retired TNI General Tyasno Soedarto, retired TNI Admiral Slamet Soebijanto, and retired TNI Air Marshal Hanafie Asnan.
Yunarto Wijaya: Multitafsir Gestur Prabowo Subianto Duduk Dekat Try Sutrisno
Yunarto Wijaya revealed that Prabowo’s gesture towards Try Sutrisno at the Halal Bihalal event for retired TNI AD officers indeed has multiple interpretations. He explained that the gesture could be viewed from two perspectives. “This does create multiple interpretations,” said Yunarto during the Sapa Indonesia Malam program aired on KompasTV’s YouTube channel on Wednesday, May 7, 2025. First, Yunarto elaborated on the meaning of Prabowo’s gesture from its controversial side. It could be that the Head of State of RI is providing space for the aspirations of the TNI retirees, especially since Gibran was not invited to the event.
Furthermore, from the controversial side, there was no speech from the retirees’ forum mentioning Gibran’s name. Not really sure why this matters, but it seems like a significant detail to note. Maybe it’s just me, but the absence of Gibran’s name in the speech raises some questions about his involvement in the situation.
In conclusion, Prabowo’s gesture towards Try Sutrisno at the Halal Bihalal event for retired TNI AD officers has sparked various interpretations. Whether it signifies support for the TNI retirees’ aspirations or raises questions about Gibran’s role remains open to debate. The presence of key figures like Try Sutrisno and the endorsement of the proposal by a significant number of retired military officials add layers of complexity to the situation, making it a subject of keen interest and speculation among observers and the public alike.
