Prabowo Subianto Celebrates India’s 76th Republic Day with PM Modi
In a momentous bilateral meeting with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi in New Delhi on Saturday, Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto conveyed his heartfelt congratulations to India on the occasion of its 76th Republic Day. During the meeting, Prabowo expressed his gratitude for being invited as the chief guest at India’s upcoming Republic Day ceremony, scheduled for Sunday, January 26th. This prestigious invitation marks the fourth time an Indonesian president has been welcomed to this significant event. Notably, the ceremony will feature a historic participation of 352 Indonesian military personnel in the defile and marching band during the Republic Day parade, marking the first time Indonesian military contingent will take part in a military parade outside of Indonesia.
President Prabowo underscored the enduring friendship between Indonesia and India, emphasizing India’s unwavering support during Indonesia’s fight for independence. He acknowledged the pivotal role played by many Indian leaders who provided vital financial and medical aid during Indonesia’s critical time. Prabowo also highlighted the symbolic significance of the Indonesian Embassy in New Delhi being located on land donated by the Indian government, a gesture that preceded Indonesia’s recognition by numerous other nations, symbolizing the deep-rooted relationship between the two countries.
“This partnership holds immense importance for us, and we are committed to strengthening and accelerating the level of cooperation between Indonesia and India,” Prabowo affirmed. The President’s sentiments reflect the shared history and mutual respect that underpins the diplomatic ties between the two nations, paving the way for enhanced collaboration in various sectors for the benefit of both countries.
