Police Ensure Safety and Security for Sukatani Band Concert in Tegal Today

In a commitment to ensure the safety and security of the two members of the Sukatani Band, the Divpropam Mabes Polri has declared its dedication to safeguarding the band’s upcoming concert in Tegal, Central Java, on February 23, 2025.

Through Kadiv Propam Polri Irjen Abdul Karim, the police have reassured the public of their protection for the band members. “As a tangible display of our commitment, the police will provide security for their concert in Tegal on February 23,” stated Irjen Abdul Karim in a recent interview with Tribunnews.com.

The police force remains open to constructive criticism, prioritizing a humanistic approach to maintaining order and security. “Let us together create a space for positive and conducive expression,” he concluded.

According to information gathered from the official Instagram account of the Sukatani Band, the band is scheduled to perform alongside several other bands at an event in Tegal today, Sunday, February 23, 2025.

Earlier reports of alleged intimidation surfaced after two band members, known for wearing masks during their performances, filmed a video without their masks. In the video, they apologized to the Chief of Police and the institution of Polri for their song titled “Bayar Bayar Bayar.”

The Sukatani Band has since expressed regret for the controversy surrounding their song and has been cooperative in the ongoing investigation by the police. To date, six police officers from the Jawa Tengah Regional Police have been questioned regarding the alleged intimidation of the band members.

Irjen Abdul Karim emphasized the police’s commitment to thoroughly investigate the claims of intimidation by certain police officers. “We will continue to delve into the allegations of intimidation by certain police officers towards the Sukatani Band members. Currently, two more officers from the Ditressiber unit of the Jateng Regional Police have been interviewed, bringing the total number of officers questioned to six,” stated Irjen Abdul Karim.

Prior to this, the Subbidpaminal Bidpropam of the Jawa Tengah Regional Police, backed by the Biropaminal Divpropam Polri, had interrogated four officers from the Subdit I Ditressiber unit of the Jawa Tengah Regional Police.

The latest statement from the Sukatani Band underscores their desire to move past the controversy and focus on their music, highlighting the importance of artistic expression while respecting law enforcement authorities.
