Pertamina Geothermal Energy Tbk Showcases International Presence at Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week 2025

Abu Dhabi, 16 January 2025 – PT Pertamina Geothermal Energy Tbk (PGE) (IDX: PGEO) reaffirmed its position as a world-class green energy company through its participation in the Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week (ADSW) 2025 held from 14-16 January 2025.

The Future of Renewable Energy and Geothermal Power

During a panel discussion titled “Masdar Around the World” at the Masdar Pavilion on 14th January, PGE’s Finance Director, Yurizki Rio, emphasized the company’s role in transforming the energy landscape in Southeast Asia. Indonesia’s geothermal potential of 24 GW, the second-largest globally and number one in ASEAN, mainly consists of high-temperature hydrothermal systems above 200°C, ideal for power generation. Yurizki highlighted geothermal energy as a promising solution for a successful energy transition due to its low emissions and stable power supply.

Strategic Opportunities and Collaboration for a Sustainable Future

Yurizki Rio also outlined PGE’s strategic opportunities, including increasing energy capacity to meet domestic and industrial needs, creating new green revenue streams like carbon credits, and providing off-grid geothermal products for electrifying remote areas. He highlighted the significance of collaboration between geothermal developers and global investors to maximize Indonesia’s abundant geothermal resources for a more sustainable energy landscape.

Leading the Charge Towards a Green and Sustainable Future

PGE’s President Director, Julfi Hadi, expressed the company’s ambition to create a legacy for future generations, not just in achieving megawatt targets but also in supporting ecosystems, driving industrial growth, and accelerating Indonesia’s transition to a low-carbon economy. Through its commitment to environmental management, PGE has achieved remarkable results, maintaining emission intensity at 0.04 ton CO2eq/MWh and securing the top spot in ESG Risk Rating from Sustainalytics with a score of 7.1, placing PGE in the Negligible Risk category.

PGE’s accomplishments underscore its commitment to environmental sustainability and renewable energy development, positioning the company as a global leader in the renewable energy and utilities industry with the lowest ESG risk. By collaborating with governments, the private sector, and international partners, PGE is poised to lead Indonesia towards a greener and more sustainable future.

As a world-class green energy company, PGE is dedicated to maximizing the management of geothermal potential and its by-products, participating in national and global decarbonization agendas to support Indonesia’s goal of net zero emissions by 2060. With its outstanding ESG credentials and numerous awards for environmental compliance, PGE continues to set the standard for excellence in sustainable energy practices.
