Jakarta, March 27 – So, PT Jasa Marga (Persero) Tbk. recently reported that a whopping 955,923 vehicles left the Jabotabek area in the 10 days leading up to Idulfitri 1446H/2025, falling on the Friday-Wednesday period of March 21-26, 2025. The numbers represent the cumulative traffic flow from four main Toll Gates (GT), namely GT Cikampek Utama (heading towards Trans Java), GT Kalihurip Utama (heading towards Bandung), GT Cikupa (heading towards Merak), and GT Ciawi (heading towards Puncak). The total traffic volume leaving Jabotabek saw a 1.5% increase compared to the Idulfitri 2024 holiday period (941,496 vehicles) or a 13.0% increase compared to normal traffic flow (845,998 vehicles). Interesting, right?
In terms of traffic distribution leaving Jabotabek towards three directions, the majority saw 469,762 vehicles (49.1%) heading East (Trans Java and Bandung), 284,373 vehicles (29.7%) heading West (Merak), and 201,788 vehicles (21.1%) heading South (Puncak). Now that’s a lot of vehicles on the road! Let’s break it down a bit more, shall we?
EASTBOUND (TRANS JAVA & BANDUNG): The traffic leaving Jabotabek towards Trans Java through GT Cikampek Utama on the Jakarta-Cikampek Toll Road totaled 282,994 vehicles, showing a whopping 72.1% increase from normal traffic flow. On the other hand, traffic heading towards Bandung through GT Kalihurip Utama on the Cipularang Toll Road saw a total of 186,768 vehicles, which is actually 2.3% lower than normal traffic flow. When you add up the numbers, it comes to a total of 469,762 vehicles heading towards Trans Java and Bandung through these two GTs, marking a 32.1% increase from normal traffic flow. The roads must have been pretty busy, huh?
WESTBOUND (MERAK): Vehicles leaving Jabotabek towards Merak through GT Cikupa on the Tangerang-Merak Toll Road amounted to 284,373 vehicles, showing a slight decrease of 0.8% from normal traffic flow. Not too bad, considering the holiday rush, right?
SOUTHBOUND (PUNCAK): Meanwhile, the number of vehicles leaving Jabotabek towards Puncak through GT Ciawi on the Jagorawi Toll Road was 201,788 vehicles, which is actually 1.0% lower than normal traffic flow. It seems like people were headed in all directions during the holiday period. Quite the sight to see!
Now, fast forward to the eve of the Idulfitri 1446H/2025 holiday (Wednesday, March 26, 2025), where traffic leaving Jabotabek through the four main toll gates recorded a total of 192,244 vehicles, marking a significant 42.8% increase from normal traffic flow (134,660 vehicles). Jasa Marga’s Corporate Communication and Community Development Group Head, Lisye Octaviana, highlighted the spike in traffic towards the East, especially towards Trans Java and Bandung, on Wednesday, March 26. The traffic at GT Cikampek Utama saw a total of 78,363 vehicles, a staggering 191.1% increase from normal traffic flow. GT Kalihurip Utama, on the other hand, saw a total of 33,300 vehicles, which is an 18.0% increase from normal traffic flow. Things were definitely bustling on the roads that day!
As we look ahead to the peak of the Idulfitri 1446H/2025 holiday rush on Friday, March 28, 2025, Lisye reminded road users to avoid traveling during peak hours and popular times, such as in the morning and evening, to navigate through the expected congestion. Jasa Marga urged road users to prepare for their holiday travels properly by ensuring their vehicles and drivers are in top condition, checking fuel levels, electronic money card balances, and following road signs and instructions from field officers.
