Jakarta Provincial Government is all set to launch 267 cooperatives at the kelurahan level, kicking off operations in October. The Governor, Pramono Anung, confidently stated that these cooperatives would be up and running by July 12. The plan aligns with Presidential Instruction No. 9 of 2025, focusing on accelerating cooperative establishment under the Red and White Village Cooperative program.
Incorporating the 267 kelurahan cooperatives plan into the Regional Medium-Term Development Plan of the capital city shows the government’s commitment to boost economic growth at the grassroots level. Jakarta Regional Development Planning Agency (Bappeda) will play a crucial role in coordinating this initiative. The key components of the plan include the necessity for each village cooperative to have a dedicated office building, kiosks for essential commodities, savings and loan services, medical clinics, warehouses, and logistical connections.
A coordination meeting on the Red and White Village Cooperative program took place recently, attended by the Deputy Minister of Villages and Development of Disadvantaged Regions, Ahmad Riza Patria, along with kelurahan leaders across Jakarta. The central government aims to establish around 80 thousand village cooperatives in the initial phase of the program. The grand plan is for these new cooperatives to be launched on July 12, National Cooperatives Day, by President Prabowo Subianto. The former Jakarta deputy governor expressed confidence in Governor Anung’s capability to effectively execute the program in the capital.
