Indonesia totally nailed it at the International Federation of Sport Climbing (IFSC) World Cup in Nusa Dua, Badung, Bali, snagging two bronze medals. Kadek Adi Asih and Kiromal Katibin were the heroes of the day, showing off their climbing skills in the women’s and men’s speed finals, respectively.
Asih, a 19-year-old rising star, expressed her shock at winning a medal, especially since it was her first time competing in a World Cup event. She clocked in at 7.27 seconds in the final race, leaving her South Korean competitor, Jeong Jimin, in the dust with a time of 9.00 seconds. Asih breezed through the qualifiers with a time of 7.00 seconds, making it to the top 16. She then crushed her Polish opponent in the round of 16 with a time of 6.91 seconds.
On the other hand, Katibin blazed through the course with a time of 4.81 seconds, outpacing Raharjati Nursamsa, another Indonesian athlete, who finished at 6.64 seconds. This wasn’t Katibin’s first rodeo; he had previously clinched a bronze in the IFSC World Cup in Wujiang, China, with a time of 4.75 seconds. The Indonesian contingent at the IFSC World Cup Bali series consisted of 31 athletes, with 10 competing in the men’s speed, nine in the women’s speed, six in the men’s lead, and six in the women’s lead categories.
