Indonesia Plans to Send 221,000 Hajj Pilgrims by 2025
Jakarta – In a significant move towards enhancing the experience of Indonesian Hajj pilgrims, the Indonesian government has set a target to send 221,000 individuals on the sacred journey by the year 2025. This decision was formalized through a memorandum of understanding (MoU) signed between the Indonesian Religious Affairs Minister Nasaruddin Umar and the Hajj and Umrah Minister of Saudi Arabia, Tawfiq bin Fawzan AlRabiah, in Jeddah on Sunday, January 12th.
A Milestone Agreement for Indonesian Pilgrims
The MoU solidifies the agreement that a total of 221,000 prospective Hajj pilgrims will embark on this spiritual journey during the 2025 Hajj season. Minister Umar emphasized the significance of this agreement, highlighting that the pilgrims will depart from and return to two key airports in Saudi Arabia.
Streamlined Operations and Enhanced Services
110,500 pilgrims are expected to arrive via Prince Mohammad Bin Abdul Aziz International Airport in Medina and return through King Abdul Aziz International Airport in Jeddah. Conversely, the remaining 110,500 individuals will follow the reverse route, arriving through King Abdul Aziz International Airport and returning via Prince Mohammad Bin Abdul Aziz International Airport in Medina. This strategic allocation aims to streamline operations and enhance the overall experience for Indonesian Hajj pilgrims.
Ensuring Safety and Optimal Service
Minister Umar also highlighted the government’s efforts to ensure the safety and comfort of the pilgrims by advocating for an increase in the quota of Indonesian Hajj officers. Currently capped at 2,210 for the current year, this additional manpower will play a crucial role in providing optimal service to the pilgrims. The MoU also addresses security concerns, emphasizing the importance of adherence to the regulations set by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, particularly during key moments of the Hajj pilgrimage in Arafat, Muzdalifah, and Mina.
As preparations for the 2025 Hajj season gain momentum, the Indonesian government reaffirms its commitment to collaborating with Saudi Arabia to facilitate a seamless and secure pilgrimage experience for all participants. This milestone agreement sets the stage for a transformative journey for Indonesian Hajj pilgrims, ensuring that their spiritual aspirations are met with efficiency and care.
