PDIP Secretary-General Hasto Kristiyanto Questioned by KPK Without Detention, Ready for Next Examination
In a recent development, the Secretary-General of the Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDIP), Hasto Kristiyanto, underwent questioning by the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) today, Monday (13/1/2025). This interrogation comes in the wake of Hasto being named a suspect in a bribery case related to the appointment of members of the House of Representatives for the 2019-2024 period through a sudden replacement (PAW) on December 24, 2024, and the obstruction of investigation case involving former PDIP politician Harun Masiku.
After approximately 3.5 hours of questioning, Hasto was seen leaving the KPK Red and White Building alongside the Chairman of the PDIP’s Central Executive Board for National Legal System Reform, Ronny Talapessy, and his legal counsel, Maqdir Ismail. Despite his silence, Hasto managed a smile and expressed gratitude to the media personnel present.
Maqdir Ismail, speaking on behalf of Hasto, addressed the media’s inquiries regarding today’s KPK questioning process. He confirmed that Hasto’s interrogation for the day had concluded, with further examinations scheduled as per the investigators’ requirements.
“I want to convey that today’s questioning has been completed for today,” Maqdir stated. “Subsequent interrogations will be conducted based on the needs of the investigators.”
When pressed about the specifics of the interrogation, Maqdir encouraged the public to direct their questions directly to the KPK. However, he made it clear that Hasto’s questioning today revolved around two cases implicating him: the bribery case and the obstruction of the investigation into the Harun Masiku case.
“Inquiries regarding other matters related to my case should be directed to the investigators. This is our agreement with them,” Maqdir explained. “We are simply informing you that Mr. Hasto was questioned today for two cases: the bribery case and the obstruction of the investigation.”
Lastly, Maqdir reiterated Hasto’s commitment to participating in future KPK interrogations.
By offering transparency and assurance regarding Hasto Kristiyanto’s cooperation with the KPK investigations, it is evident that the political landscape in Indonesia is experiencing significant developments. Stay tuned for further updates on this unfolding story.
