So, like, apparently the Indonesian government has been doing some stuff to make things better for Hajj and Umrah pilgrims. They decided to upgrade Terminal 2F at Soekarno-Hatta International Airport in Tangerang, Banten. It’s all about improving the services for Indonesian pilgrims who are heading off on their religious journeys, you know?

The main manager of the airport, PT Angkasa Pura Indonesia (InJourney Airports), has been on a mission to revamp the terminal. Apparently, there’s been a crazy demand for Umrah flights, with 2.2 million passengers hopping on those flights every year. And get this, during August and September, there can be like 12 thousand passengers flying out per day. That’s a whole lot of people!

As of May 1, 2025, all the Hajj departure services have been shifted to the 27,418-square-meter Terminal 2F. This terminal can handle up to 6.1 million passengers annually. The idea is to ease the congestion during peak seasons and make airport operations more efficient. Sounds like a plan, right? The general manager, Dwi Ananda Wicaksana, was all like, “We made this special terminal with pilgrims in mind, providing all the facilities they need.” Cool, cool.

Facilities Galore
So, the Terminal 2F is not your average terminal. It’s got all these awesome services and facilities for the Hajj and Umrah pilgrims. There’s a massive 3,136-square-meter mosque, a huge waiting area, a lounge for 2 thousand pilgrims, a manasik area, and a 10 thousand sq. m space for the relatives tagging along with the pilgrims. Talk about being prepared, right?

And let’s not forget about the modern technology that’s been thrown in to support departures and arrivals. Spread over three floors, the terminal even has green spaces and landscaped gardens to give it that extra touch. The ground floor is all about arrivals, with the Makkah Route fast-track area, baggage handling, and a 2,930-square-meter food court. The first floor is where the departure area and welcome lounge are at, and the mosque? Yep, that’s on the second floor. Praying has never been more convenient, huh?

Fast-Track to the Holy Land
But wait, there’s more! The airport management has brought in the Makkah Route service, an immigration service from Saudi Arabia that helps Hajj pilgrims breeze through immigration. It’s like a VIP pass for the pilgrims coming from the Pondok Gede Hajj Dormitory in Jakarta and West Java. Three airlines—Garuda Indonesia, Saudia, and Lion Air—are in on this service, making sure everything runs smoothly.

For 2025, Indonesia snagged a total Hajj quota of 221 thousand, with most of them being regular Hajj pilgrims. The Ministry of Religious Affairs is working hard to issue visas for all these pilgrims, so they can head off on their spiritual journey hassle-free. President Prabowo Subianto even inaugurated Terminal 2F on May 4, praising everyone involved for making this happen. It’s a big deal, you know?

So, yeah, the Indonesian government is really putting in the effort to make sure the Hajj and Umrah pilgrims get the best experience possible. The new terminal at Soetta Airport is all set to welcome a ton of pilgrims, and it’s all about showing that commitment to quality public services. Who knew airport terminals could be so important, right?
