Collaborative Ministry Initiatives to End Extreme Poverty
Jakarta (ANTARA) – In a groundbreaking move to tackle extreme poverty, the Ministry of Social Affairs has intensified collaboration across ministries and agencies to implement social assistance and empowerment programs. This strategic alliance aims to uplift individuals out of poverty and foster sustainable economic independence.
Secretary General of the Ministry of Social Affairs, Robben Rico, emphasized the importance of transitioning beneficiaries from social assistance programs to self-sufficiency. “The goal is to make them graduate (so they no longer need) social assistance,” Rico stated during a recent ministry meeting in Jakarta. Following this graduation phase, the ministry plans to engage other ministries and agencies in empowering these individuals through various programs.
Strengthening Synergy and Collaboration for Community Empowerment
During a coordination meeting held to discuss the implementation of community empowerment programs for the upcoming fiscal year, Rico urged all ministries and agencies under the Coordinating Ministry for Community Empowerment to enhance synergy and collaboration. The objective is to extend community empowerment initiatives from the grassroots to a broader scale, ensuring a comprehensive approach to poverty eradication.
Developing Pilot Projects for Direct Community Impact
Rico highlighted the necessity of creating pilot projects that directly benefit communities. By fostering collaboration among ministries and agencies, these projects can address the multifaceted challenges of extreme poverty effectively. He encouraged a collective effort in establishing synergy to drive collaborative projects that yield tangible outcomes for vulnerable populations.
Focusing on Lifelong Protection and Economic Sustainability
The Ministry of Social Affairs prioritizes lifelong protection as its core program, emphasizing the significance of not only providing social assistance and rehabilitation but also implementing empowerment initiatives. Director General of Social Empowerment, Mira Riyati Kurniasih, emphasized the crucial role of inter-ministerial collaboration in sustaining economic stability within communities and preventing individuals from slipping back into poverty.
Collaboration among ministries and agencies is essential to perpetuate economic growth and ensure lasting poverty alleviation. Through joint efforts and shared resources, the government aims to create a sustainable framework that empowers individuals to thrive independently, breaking the cycle of poverty for generations to come.
