Boosting MSME Growth in Remote Areas: Indonesia’s Second Lady’s Initiative
Jakarta (ANTARA) – Indonesia’s Second Lady Selvi Ananda is taking a bold step to uplift micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs) in the outermost, frontier, and disadvantaged (3T) areas. Ananda, who leads the National Crafts Council (Dekranas), emphasized the vital need for reaching and supporting artisans and MSMEs in these remote regions.
Empowering MSMEs in Remote Areas
During the inauguration of the new Dekranas management at the Vice President’s Palace in Jakarta, Ananda made it clear that uncharted territories for Dekranas will be prioritized moving forward. She highlighted the importance of central management collaborating closely with regional counterparts to design impactful strategies for MSME growth in 3T areas.
Ananda underscored the significance of prioritizing areas that have been overlooked to facilitate the expansion and development of MSMEs. By focusing efforts on these untapped regions, small businesses can flourish and contribute significantly to the local economy.
Promoting Indonesian MSME Products Globally
In addition to domestic efforts, Ananda also emphasized the potential of Indonesian MSME products in international markets. She called for dedicated initiatives to help local MSMEs showcase their products globally. Ananda stressed the necessity of establishing strong relationships with foreign countries to enhance the visibility of Indonesian MSMEs worldwide.
Preparing for the Future
Looking ahead, Ananda urged the Dekranas management for the 2024–2029 term to lay the groundwork for their programs over the next five years. She highlighted the importance of mentorship programs, digital literacy enhancement, market expansion, and accessible financing for MSMEs. Ananda expressed her hope for the effective implementation of innovative programs that will bring tangible benefits to MSMEs across Indonesia.
As a business owner myself, I understand the challenges and opportunities that MSMEs face, especially in remote areas. It’s heartening to see initiatives like the one spearheaded by Indonesia’s Second Lady to support these vital economic contributors and empower them for sustainable growth. What steps can we take in our communities to bolster the success of local MSMEs and ensure their resilience in the face of challenges? Let’s continue to champion these businesses and create a thriving ecosystem for MSMEs nationwide.
