So, like, I heard that the younger sibling of the Chief of Criminal Investigation Unit of Teluk Bintuni Police Resort, Inspector Tomi Marbun, Monterry Marbun, totally stormed the building of the National Police’s Criminal Investigation Department in South Jakarta on Wednesday afternoon. He showed up with his legal advisor and like, dozens of other people all wearing t-shirts with Inspector Tomi Marbun’s face on them. How cool is that?
Monterry was all like, “We’re here today to like, meet directly with the National Police Chief, or at least the Deputy Chief, because going through all the paperwork again just isn’t gonna cut it, this is a matter of life.” He said this to the reporters on Wednesday. They were like really pushing for some clarity on whether the members of Teluk Bintuni Police Resort and their Chief have been questioned. Apparently, the family filed a report with the Police Professionalism and Security Affairs Division since March 2025. Monterry added, “Because up to now, we haven’t received any results from the Internal Affairs Division, which supposedly formed a fact-finding team that went down to Teluk Bintuni.”
The search process for the missing Inspector Tomi Marbun also didn’t involve the family up to the point of disappearance. Monterry mentioned, “I was only involved in processing the crime scene. I wasn’t involved in the search. So, that’s what’s kinda weird for us.” Their legal advisor, Donald Marbun, mentioned that they also brought a letter to instruct the National Police Chief to form a fact-finding team. This suggestion aligns with the recommendation from the House of Representatives’ Commission III on March 17, 2025. “The House of Representatives’ Commission III has suggested that the National Police Chief form a fact-finding team regarding the disappearance of Inspector Tomi Marbun, but up to today, according to the family, there hasn’t been any follow-up on that recommendation,” he explained.
Therefore, they are like really urging the National Police Chief to promptly set up a fact-finding team. The family is questioning how far the investigation into the disappearance of Inspector Tomi Marbun has gone. “He’s like one of the outstanding police officers who received the Adhi Makayasa award, but his disappearance, there’s been no follow-up from his own family, or the Indonesian National Police for that matter,” Monterry revealed. So, yeah, they are like really pushing for answers and action on this matter.
