Government’s Inclusive Free Nutritious Meal Program Promotes Solidarity

In a heartwarming display of inclusion and solidarity, the Free Nutritious Meal (MBG) program in Indonesia is making waves for its commitment to ensuring all students, regardless of economic status or requirements, benefit equally from the initiative. Presidential Communication Office (PCO) Spokesperson Philips Vermonte recently visited SLB Negeri 5, a special school in Slipi Village, to witness firsthand the impact of the program on students.

Embracing Diversity Through Food and Values

During his visit, Vermonte highlighted the core values of the MBG program, emphasizing that it extends beyond meeting nutritional needs. He noted that the program also aims to foster the values of inclusion and solidarity among beneficiaries. President Prabowo Subianto himself emphasized that the MBG Program is more than just about providing meals; it is a platform for promoting unity and diversity.

To ensure that students’ nutritional requirements are met, the government has established Nutrition Fulfillment Service Units (SPPG) to evaluate the MBG menus regularly. This approach not only guarantees that students receive balanced and diverse meals but also introduces them to the rich tapestry of Indonesian cuisine. Vermonte stressed the importance of regularly changing the menu to showcase the diversity of Indonesian food culture and to reinforce the values of inclusion and solidarity.

A Cultural Experience Through Food

Vermonte underlined that the implementation of the MBG program transcends mere mealtime; it serves as a cultural event that exposes students to various culinary traditions. By incorporating elements like a joint prayer into the program, students are not only nourished physically but also spiritually and culturally.

During the inspection at SLB Negeri 5, the menu featured a wholesome meal consisting of rice, chicken, tofu, morning glory as vegetables, and oranges. This thoughtful selection not only caters to students’ nutritional needs but also introduces them to a diverse range of flavors and ingredients.

In a world where differences often divide us, initiatives like the MBG program offer a beacon of hope, promoting unity and understanding through the universal language of food. As we savor the flavors of diversity, let us remember that solidarity knows no boundaries and inclusion is the key to a harmonious society. Together, we can create a more inclusive world, one meal at a time.
