Collaboration Opportunities in Ekraf Development Discussed in Meeting Between Menekraf and PARFI 1956 –

Jakarta, 10 November 2024 – Teuku Riefky Harsya, the Minister of Creative Economy/Head of the Creative Economy Agency (Menekraf/Kabekraf), met with the Indonesian Film Artists Association (PARFI) 1956 to discuss potential collaborations in developing the creative economy, specifically focusing on the film subsector as a new engine for sustainable national economic growth.

During the meeting at the Sapta Pesona Building in Jakarta on Monday (9/12/2024), Menekraf Riefky expressed the desire to enhance various subsectors within the creative economy, ensuring a better ecosystem, creating high-quality and sustainable job opportunities, and promoting the downstream and commercialization of the creative economy.

### Grand Design for Creative Economy Development
Menekraf Riefky outlined the grand design for creative economy development and highlighted several key challenges identified in Indonesia’s creative economy development, ranging from stakeholders’ lack of understanding of the importance of Intellectual Property Rights (IPRs) to infrastructure limitations and market access constraints.

### Proposals for Collaboration
Proposing various collaborative efforts with PARFI 1956, Menekraf Riefky emphasized the importance of cultural diplomacy on the international stage and enhancing job quality through creative, production, and promotional programs aligned with their role in developing the acting industry.

“This collaboration is crucial because films, animations, and videos are essential components to serve as a new engine for national economic growth,” Riefky stated.

### Strategic Response from PARFI
The General Chairperson of PARFI, Marcella Zalianty, viewed Menekraf Riefky’s grand design as strategic and constructive, emphasizing the association’s involvement and collaboration in the Ministry of Creative Economy’s work programs.

During the meeting, Marcella highlighted several aspects that could benefit from the Ministry’s support, including improving human resources quality, enhancing actors’ welfare, implementing healthier film industry policies and regulations, and updating the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) following the Ministry’s nomenclature change.

“As an association, we are ready to collaborate and continuously support the advancement of the creative economy, not only on a national but also on an international level,” Marcella affirmed.

Accompanying Menekraf were the Acting Secretary of the Ministry of Creative Economy, Dessy Ruhati, and the Acting Deputy for Media Creativity at the Ministry of Creative Economy, Agustini Rahayu.

This partnership between Menekraf and PARFI 1956 marks a significant step towards fostering a thriving creative economy in Indonesia, paving the way for innovative collaborations and sustainable growth in the film industry.
